You have to know what youre selling, what youre not selling, and what you believe is valuable to your customers. The good news is that there exist some very creative ways to market your product. The bad news is that it can be hard.
In an age of the internet where you can create and market your products online, the concept of a small, local, locally-owned business that has something to say has become more and more important. In the old days that might not have been the case, but now that we’ve got the internet, anyone with a computer and a few bucks can create a website for themselves and promote their products. But the real challenge in any of these cases is the time spent on marketing. You can put your entire time into creating your website, or you can put the time into finding a good marketer to market that website.
Which is more important? Marketing, or attracting new prospects? If you can create a good website, you’ve got an edge on the competition. But if you’re not marketing yourself well, you’re in trouble. I’ve seen flywheel businesses go from having a handful of new prospects to having none at all because of an inability to market themselves.
