an acronym for a (1) Business System, (2) Environment, and (3) Action. These are the three levels of awareness that I talk about in this blog.
We all know that we have two separate systems, and that the actions we take within those systems influence each other. We don’t often think about our environment in this way, and that’s fine. If you can’t think about your environment, then you’re not aware of your own actions and so you’re not aware of how your actions are affecting your environment.
If your environment includes your business, then you must take into account the fact that you do have an environment. In a sense you are an extended business system.
Thats how it works in a business. If youve got several different systems interacting with one another, then you have an environment, and thats it. But if youve got one system which has a huge amount of influence over the others, then youve got a bigger environment and youre in a more complex situation.
the term “environment” here is just a fancy way of saying “society.” Society is just a word that most people use when theyre talking about society. In a business, society is a set of rules, protocols, practices, and more that you can enforce or change. And when youve got a system of that nature, then youve got society. A system can affect its environment, but it can also affect society.
Youve probably heard this before, but the idea of society and environment comes from the scientific field of sociology. And the idea that there are different environments for different types of people. Youve probably seen some variation on the phrase “society of man” or “society of men.
What youve got, anyway, is the idea that everything is governed by the same set of principles that make life possible. This is why it’s so useful that we use a set of rules for everything, and then we use it as a kind of shorthand to describe it.
For example, a bookshop may have no rules about what to put on the shelf, but the owner of the bookstore might use the term society as shorthand because that is the kind of society she lives in. Similarly, a country might have a set of rules for the behaviors of its citizens all the time, but that same country might use the shorthand society to describe the country itself.
I don’t know if you noticed, but when people used the expression society, they sometimes used the word society. What’s the difference between society and a society? The former refers to a group of people; the latter refers to a culture. I agree that society is a better way to describe a culture, but I find it hard to imagine a country using the word society.
Society is a phrase that’s used in a lot of ways that are somewhat different from a society. In my opinion, society is mostly used in the sense of a social group, but I imagine society might also be used in a slightly different sense, like a household. While society refers to a group, a society is a formal system for organizing everything in a society.
